RKLauncher, upon first use, seems to be garbage compared to objectdock for the following reason: it will not adjust the size of the dock according to the number of items on it, so that the icons on the far extremes will disappear off the screen when e.g. you minimize applications that cause an addition of an icon to the dock.

Objectdock may not be as "light", but at least it works!

I have tried them all and stick with ObjectDock.

While its first iterations were buggy, I have been using it every day for over 3 years now and have not had any problems since the 1.0 release. I can't help but think that those calling it buggy are jumping on the Neowin "Stardock bashing" bandwagon.

Amen to that, Jexxster - I've been using ObjectDock for at least as long as you have (if not longer), and it has never given me any trouble whatsoever...and as a former Software Test Engineer, I tend to be rather harsh on software.

I also echo your comments on the anti-Stardock rhetoric here - it's almost as if people are getting something out of doing this...maybe from their competitors? Who knows?

Here's another vote for ObjectDock. I love the flyout menus and alternate zoom effects.

Also, I see you were comparing docks to sidebars, and thats really not a fair comparison. The sidebars should be compared to widget programs and OSX's dashboard, while the docks should be compared with the Windows taskbar. In my opinion, the Windows taskbar is a much better tool than OSX's dock.

I use Objectdock in conjunction with my taskbar as an alternative to desktop icons.

RK launcher is a better dock by design and is very fast and smooth. But ObjectDock does work the same if you work it right. It can be slow and buggy, but you can fix it. And the thing I like the most, it has thousands of icons and skins made for it. It has a community and and is made by a company, with a history of interface software.

And it seems to be the most popular, so, ObjectDock is for me.
