DeskScapes 2 - Does worth paying for it?

Recommended Posts

No, and here's why:

wow, what's the point of buying a "thing" that wasn't even invented by Stardock and there's already a FREE patch which is ONE YEAR OLD, seriously, stop charge people money Stardock. What i am talking about? Well, maybe that bunch of bugs that makes WB6 useless, for example, when i drag a window it drags the edges of the window, and when i stop the window and move it again it lefts the edges on the desktop, how nice, who wants screenshots of the edges on the desktop? Also, some programs doesn't even show the minimize/maximize/close buttons after opened when WB6 is running, wonderful. And fixes for WB? A fix in a half year, and when there's luck. Fix your apps bugs and then ask for money IF your products are functional, even free products are far better, like the MSSTyles, ALWAYS work and they're FREE.

Why should we pay for a thing that already exists?

(Moderator hat on) DO NOT LINK TO WAREZ. Cracks for Windows DreamScene are not allowed to be discussed. (Moderator hat off)

Oh wait, the Deskcapes videos? And? They are just converted videos, nothing else. 2008 FAIL, yet again by Stardock, congrats. x)

The truth hurts, now act like a kid and ban me, please.

I wouldn't buy their products because I have no money and because there are free alternatives. Anyway nothing wrong with them. But they must have hurt you a lot judging by your post :p

First, is that patch legit? I'm not asking if it work or not, just from a legal point of view.

Second, a few people reported the patch didn't work for them.

By the way, your post sounds more like flamming then logical argument for recommending/debunk a product. And why are you start talking about WB6 and MSSTyles on a topic that asks if DreamScapes 2 is worth it? You barely state a reason why people shouldn't buy DreamScapes 2.

Isn't dreamscene set up so that you pay per-dream? So the free thing they released was for 1 (or a handful) of free dreams. You still had to pay for others you may want. Ditto on the unfounded WB6/msstyles rant.

I'm still using WB5 on my XP machine and it's running beautifully.

Okay let's get some facts straight here:

1) Windows DreamScene is a Windows Vista Ultimate only feature. The fact that there are cracks available on the net does not change that. That's like saying you wouldn't buy Photoshop because you know where you can download Corel Photopaint for free.

2) DeskScapes 2.0 does a lot more than play video. It also supports triggered events and dynamic wallpaper.

3) Nearly all the animated wallpapers on the net at this point are in .DREAM format which require DeskScapes to use.

4) The FREE version of DeskScapes includes several free animatged wallpapers including 3 or so dynamic ones that are totally awesome. So even if you never bought DeskScapes, the free version along is totally awesome.

One last comment: The WindowBlinds rant you made is not just off topic but utter nonsense. I've never heard of anyone having a problem like you described. Moreover, WindowBlinds gets regular updates (including a major new version this week).

I've actually got the WindowBlinds bug he described, but the laptop I got it on is 6 years old and doesn't support per-pixel alpha blending properly in newer drivers. When a program hung, sometimes it would leave the transparent window border behind, was annoying as heck.

i bet if they banned you, you would bitch like a little kid you are. even AFTER you asked them too

but yea, your WindowsBlinds rant is complete and utterly BS

it's quite obvious you know ablosutely nothing about stardock's software and are just spreading FUD for the sake of it. deskscapes does much more than dreamscene

I hate to say this but this line completely negated anything positive that you might have had to say here. Instead of addressing what you thought in a calm and concise manner you felt the need to throw in a jab that you had hoped would 'rally people to your cause.'

It doesn't work.

You provided a lot of good information there, you should just leave it at that, people will chose what product they want to use and I'm sure a lot of people do appreciate the details about free alternative to paid products.

That being said, next time, leave the jab at home and you will get more credence with your statements.

I wasn't even aware of this DeskScapes 2...

I'm subscribed to Object Desktop , and despites this I use perhaps a max of 2 apps (windowblinds & iconpackager).

I was a bit angry that "Cursor fx Plus" is not included

I found that DeskScapes have some annoying bugs, so I'll give a try with version 2.
