ev0|
Don't you guys think its about time microsoft gave us a couple of new sets of glass / updated normal mouse cursors ? Because we've had the same exact mouse cursor schemes in there since windows 95. So far Microsoft seems to have shown absolutely no intension of upgrading this overlooked feature. fishrman
I fully agree with you; and I believe there was a post in the newsgroups about this as well. My advice? Bug it as a "Wish:", and see what happens. Although I'm wondering whether we may see some cursor changes by Beta 2, since it pretty much "feels" like a given that Microsoft should change the styles...but we'll see. poulidis
It's not one of my main worries, but a new set of cool looking mouse cursors wouldn't hurt...
Scirwode
It's not one of my main worries, but a new set of cool looking mouse cursors wouldn't hurt... I agree, but Apple haven't change their mouse cursors for quite some time. Their appearance and functionality has remained consistent since the inception of computers and mouse cursors aren't exactly at the top of Microsoft's priority list right now. I hope though, that there are some new ones and that they incorporate functionalities that display the capabilities of Vista. An example is the ability to use 3D mouse cursors. This is however just purely fictionnal on my part but it can't hurt to dream, can it   ? PSG22
iSimx
lol - i totally agree. Im sure they were going to make new cursors for windows xp in the beginning...:s I dont know.
Cold Blood
True, the cursor hasn't changed at all from windows 95 or if i recall corectly 3.xx.At least they should add more good looking ones with the classic one enabled by default but allow users to use the other ones. It's no big deal just some images and some animations but it does make a difference.

If everything else is going to be "curved" in Vista, why not make some semi-rounded cursors to go along with it?
xelencin
They need to atleast add some smoothing/aa to the cursors. There are third party ones out there that do this and they look so much better.
Cold Blood
I'm just curios how will custom made themes work in vista, especially with the animations like the close, maximize and minimize buttons. And if they will allow users to use unregistered/unsigned themes. Why the heck did they have to include all this crap in windows. Nontheless people will make more suitable cursors for vista just like they did with xp. And many will do more than that like they did with xpize or other programs. soulburner
The cursor in Windows XP is not the same as in Windows 95. Windows XP use a slightly modified cursor from Windows 3.x (perhaps the NT line). Windows 95 has a completely different cursor - it's smaller and a bit more cute ;) The difference is 1-2 pixels, though :p (left to right - 3.x, 95, XP) I say no to a rounded mouse cursor. PL_ Veteran Posted May 1, 2006 Veteran Share Posted May 1, 2006 No new cursors!!! Ugh, the ones in Plus! 98 were curved, and I hated them. And a Glass cursor would be insane. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
MidnightDevil
Hum.. some glass 3D cursors would be neat :D
.Neo
If anything they need to start including antialiased cursors.
chavo
There's no need to change the default cursors, they are fine. It's such an easy thing to customize and even if they did change the default most people here would change them anyway.
Nebula2020
Hey. If your looking for cursors, you could try some of these. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/100354/ (my favourite) https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=453439&st=0 http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/11717574/ :)

osirisX
Glass cursors would be horrible, they would get lost on-screen.
ANova
I just use the OSX cursors, best I've seen.
Martyn
I just use the OSX cursors, best I've seen. I agree, the standard Windows curser is so damn ugly. So I just use the OSX curser set because they look really nice :) I hope Microsoft take a leaf out of Apple's book for this... Glass curser's do seem like a pretty cool idea though. soulburner
Yeah, right, Windows 95 cursor with inverted colors + lame colorful animations for busy, etc. Come on! :p
ATLien_0
well they really dont need to add new ones, just update them, like the animated hourglass is a 16 bit one, update that to something newer
Ambroos
Well, there are some photoshop artists out here, why don't we get some "what it should look like" images? (i can't do anything like that so don't ask why i'm not doing it myself)
Angel Blue01
They should at least fix the bug that prevents shadows around alpha channel containing cursors
