Just picked up a PS2 cheap...

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a PS2, SanAndreas and a memory card for $172. :woot:

I played some GTA:SA while on Long Island at my cousins house over Christmas and the 15 minutes I got to play made me just drool. So I went to my friends game shop tonight to see if he had any used PS2's and he did. :) So I bought it, a used copy of SA and a new memory card.

Used v10 PS2- $100.95

Used copy of GTA:SA- $35.00

New Sony 8 meg memory card- $22.95

Total- $172.01

All in all a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

So before I get to jackin cars and bustin caps in peeps asses, I have a question.

I want to throw a DMS4 chip in it and was wondering if anyone out there has had any experiance soldering chips in a PS2. I'm quite comfortable soldering. I've done loads of PSX and have soldered on various other PCB's. So I'm wondering if I'll have any trouble with a PS2 as some of the solder points are quite small. Also, is the DMS4 a good chip? are there any other chips out there that direct boot dvd backups and imports? Any info or experiances will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)
