Azureus takes FOREVER to load... any suggestions?

Whenever I click a BT link and choose to open it with Azureus, it takes friggen FOREVER to load. I mean, sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes. And it's not like the hard drive is churning the whole time; it just sits there, and I can keep using the computer as normal as though I never launched the program in the first place.

Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

Alternatively, and BT clients out there where I can limit the upload speed to something like 5k/sec? I've got a bandwidth limit here at my uni, and use that as a safeguard in case I need to leave something running while I'm gone.

I have tried Azureus, but its use of Java made it perform very slowly on my machine. I use Burst!, it allows for you to limit upload bandwith (like you need).

Azureus uses java right? Try reinstalling java, or try J2SE or somthing, i've heard thats slightly faster then the normal J2RE?

I use ABC, and that lets me set my upload speed to whatever i want :)

Take out some of your shares that are less used.

Azureus does allow upload limit choice.

How slow is your computer ? Use Java 1.5.0 , reinstall both it and azureus, and retest.

on a 2.2 Ghz Athlon XP, Azureus loads in 3 seconds.

If you are running the safepeer plugin delete it and see if that helps

it could also be a plugin. Like safepeer.

God dont do that just go in to the options and click asynchronous :p it is wating on the blacklisted ips to update in the start if you dont have this and can take a whlie.

hmm yes I see your logic....

He has a stable copy that is'nt working, he should be using the UNSTABLE release to make things better.

Try BitComet, is'nt it supposed to be pretty similar but with out java?
