nero78
Is this possible? Would have been a competition to dreamscene.. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/540686-screensaver-as-wallpaper/ Share on other sites

Island Dog
DeskScapes is an enhancement to DreamScene which will allow dynamic/live content (which is coming soon), plus some other features. I'm not quite sure what exactly the OP is asking. Dreams are made from .wmv and .mpg files, so a .scr file would not work as far as I know. I'm sure there is someway you can "convert" a screensaver into a usable video though. Pikey
Yes you can!! ... its called 'The Lazy Mans Desktop Aurora' ... read all about it here .. http://www.istartedsomething.com/20061004/...desktop-aurora/ 'he concept is extremely simple. Run a screensaver on the desktop. But with the added power of DWM, you can get all the cool Glass effects on top of the screensaver, so it?s just like a real wallpaper. Screensavers has always supported the ability to be called to render on any surface to assist in development. But we can also utilize this method to create an interesting desktop background effect.' Frogboy Administrators Posted February 21, 2007 Administrators Share Posted February 21, 2007 DeskScapes doesn't play screensavers as wallpaper. But it can play live content as wallpaper (which is almost the same thing in that it's generated on the fly). The problem with Screensavers is that they're mostly designed expecting to take over the entire display. So they either use immense amounts of CPU or they would interfere with how you work with the desktop (such as with icons). ozgeek
Animated wallpapers is not first in Windows Vista, it has been available in Windows 98. You could apply Gif files as wallpapers. Dreamscene could have been the updated version of this. zoomer
in my opinion, the easiest way to do an animated wallpaper is to set a html that loads a flash as wallpap. there is a website seling a product that does just that (using their "animated wallpapers", of course, not just any flash), but I can't seem to remember it's name. if anyone interested, just continue this thread and I will look it up Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/540686-screensaver-as-wallpaper/#findComment-588379949 Share on other sites
