Valve Warming to Wii, PS3

Yus good new indeed.

The PS3 is more popular than it was, and has sold a good few million now.

So developing on it, while expensive at first might benefit them in the end, there first game might be costly, but then the next one not so much, they will know how it works better and how to use it more efficiently.

Making a game for PS3 as well as the Xbox 360 and PC is going to boost their sales, don't bring it out years later, people will forget it by then, bring them out at the same time and the hype is for the game on all systems.

And have pride in their games too, Valve being Valve, the ones that rewrote Half Life 2 after it was leaked, seem to like a good bit of perfection and make great games, don't give what you worked hard on to EA to then port to the PS3, it only reflects badly on them if it turns out badly, which Orange box apparently did.

As for the Wii, it would be great to see them make a hard core aimed game for the system, someone has to, and it seems Nintendo can't be bothered any more.

Valve was once a neutral thought in my mind but lately they've moved more towards my EA side (Game developer I hate.)

EA did make good games, and then bought some good older classic game companies, Westwood, Bullfrog etc, and then they disappeared completely.

But if anything they are starting to turn around, they are taking risks with brand new ip's, not every company woudl take a risk with a game such as Spore with the money they have pumped into it.

Or taken away a dev like DICE, who mostly develop the battlefield series and turn out something like Mirrors edge.

Valve is one of the best developers out there, and with Steam they are also a very good publisher. Anything that see them deliver more games to more people is a good thing, though they already have a lot on their hands. We're waiting for Left 4 Dead (due soon), then the Team Fortress 2 updates will resume (adding the remaining class unlocks and maps), we have the final instalment of the HL2 episodes trilogy (still no release date) and the inevitable Half-Life 3. If they can fit in more games then great but I don't want to see their PC offerings suffer as a result of it.

Indeed. Though at the same time, I don't want to see any more half-***ed ports like the PS3's Orange Box (I'm aware Valve didn't do it themselves, unlike the 360 port; they handed it off to EA...a mistake, it would seem). But yes, the primary focus should be on the PC, where they excel. They just need to hire a good team to handle future ports in-house, and do nothing but that. :)
