exIBM
My install of Windows 7/PDC went very well... except that my anti-virus crashed afterwards and won't re-install. It knows it's not going on a supported o/s. Anybody got one that still works? Big Smile
The anti-virus part of the free Comodo Internet Security suite runs fine (both scan en pro-active protection) on Windows v7. I haven't tested the firewall part, because I don't need it. Please be aware that you'll need to run the setup program in Vista compatibility mode, else Comodo won't be installed. alexonline
Norton Internet Security 2009 installs perfectly and seems to work, but after using it for a few mins Windows 7 freezes - it happened twice, so I took it off, and loaded Avast free instead. So far, perfect. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/689892-windows-7-anti-virus/#findComment-590065646 Share on other sites

exIBM
Windows Live One Care may work. It does not work at all... if you upgrade it will fail within seconds of your first boot. If you try to install it, it will tell you that it doesn't recognize the o/s. So, just like the Vista beta testing days, One Care doesn't work. Will Microsoft supply a version that works when the Win7 beta test formally begins? Xilo
I heard Common Sense 2009 beta works pretty well. Though, I don't have a copy of Windows 7 to install and test, so I can't confirm it. :p Edited November 4, 2008 by Xilo Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/689892-windows-7-anti-virus/#findComment-590071350 Share on other sites

Digitalx
Avira AntiVirhttp://www.free-av.com/ A bit off topic but i've been avast user for past couple of years. they have a bad leak in webscanning service now which ticks me off just wondering if antivir/aviras free software is able to do mostly the same as avast and is as light on resources for most part too ? DPyro
I used to use Antivir, but the update site is ungodly slow (and it pops up an ugly ad), so I switched to Avast.
