netbook capabilities

I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if a netbook was powerful enough to transcode video on the fly to a device like the ipod touch or PSP.

Oh and what kind of games can you play on it at reasonable quality?

i'm kind of stuck on deciding....i want a notebook that can play games and transcode/encode video and have a long battery life.

your replies would be appreciated :)

netbooks can barely run WoW and Eve Online on the lowest settings. to put things in perspective, even my 10 year old computer can run WoW.

if you're looking for a portable desktop replacement, it's not a netbook.

The new netbooks with the ION chips in them can play WoW fairly well. Have a look at those, the HP Mini 311C is an example.

Air Video recommends Core 2 Duo or equivalent processors for the host machine, so I don't think most netbooks can handle it. The closest match to your needs I could imagine are the laptops with CULV processors, like the Asus UL30 and UL80 series.
