Samsung Nexus Prime first live shot leaks

With all the fuss surrounding the Apple event today, you may have forgotten that an equally big announcement is coming next week. And we are first to deliver you a glimpse of what is to come at the Samsung Unpacked event, which will see the unveiling of the next Google flagship - Nexus Prime.

What you are seeing here is the first live photo of the Nexus Prime (or part of it), which comes to confirm several important specs of the upcoming device. First, we've got the HD resolution of the Super AMOLED confirmed - that's 720p on a screen just 4.6" in diagonal. As you can see from the image itself this gives you a pixel density of over 320 ppi, which is certainly more than anyone could need.

And don't be confused by the strange 1184 x 720 pixels resolution that appears on the system info. That's just the active area of the screen, with the status bar on the top and the three soft buttons on the bottom not counted. The Samsung Nexus Prime will surely come with a regular 1280 x 720 pixels screen.

We are not sure if the Samsung Nexus Prime display will be using the PenTile matrix, but we can bet that at this pixel density even the most eagle-eyed users won't be able to tell the difference. Just look at the shot, those letters look like printed on paper.

The final bit that we found out is that the Nexus Prime won't be having any hardware keys on the front. This was probably to be expected as Android Ice Cream Sandwich is based on Android Honeycomb, which doesn't rely on hardware controls for UI navigation.

I would be cautious to say this is real deal Nexus Prime:

Massive bezel on the bottom, almost looks photoshopped/blackened out

As noted in other forums, looks an awful lot like the Galaxy S II X from Telus:

No they dont.

Nice resolution for a phone however, especially on the gorgeous AMOLED screens. 4.6 is probably too big for my liking tho.

Certainly seems better than the 4s by a long distance.

Ummm... I don't think so

Me and you may be dumb, but the guys over at GSMArena certainly aint.

Except, if you look closely, the black bezel is fairly normal sized; those buttons are on the screen, not the bottom of the phone.

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I was thinking about getting this but i think 4.3" is the limit of my screen sizing :). I'd like higher resolution but definitely not any bigger, at 4.6" - i think that's too big. 4" is actually perfect to me.

In my opinion, a big NO

and a big YES to 4.6'' 720p screen

Too bad, I can't afford it...

Awww... don't be sad! You can't afford now. That is, currently. You can easily change in the future. And by the time you do, there will be a better device for you to choose. Maybe a WP8 with 720p screen.

Thats the thing.

I'll choose WP8 over any other platform anyday.

All that I love about WP7 plus more Apps = Epic Win

Sad part is, there are now four phones that I admire and none of them are running WP7.

Venue Pro was one but...

Gosh I despise soft buttons.

I also think 4.6" is too big.

Not a good start.

On a side note, I feel sorry for those people who fake screenshots (not saying that IS a fake, but ya know). What a waste of time, it was "cool" maybe 10 years ago :p
