If it's free, and ad-free, there's also no business model. You can't magic money out of thin air. But if you're just hosting a little blog, there's wordpress.com or blogger.com. Both free. I don't know why you need the complication of web hosting just for a blog.

It is possible that the business model is selling premium accounts with more features, domain hosting, more databases, etc...

Yeah. A freemium business model is an option, although I'm damn sure it wouldn't work for web hosting. You'd have to compromise the value of the paid offering to support the free offering, making you uncompetitive with paid-only offerings, and subsequently bringing question to the business model again. There's probably a reason the OP has had two previous services close down.

I want to weigh in here because recently I was on the search for free web host so I can test a site I want to work on for my company. I bookmarked 6-7 sites if I recall and in the end only 2 came out on top.

One is 000webhost.com as mentioned above and the other which is way better is x10hosting.com. I signed up for an account and they include so much for free I almost ****ed my pants! You can choose from 10 different shopping carts, I installed Magento and a few minutes later I was inside working on it. Their cPanel is the latest version packed with many goodies. Later on I will pay for an account but for free it cant be beat.

I recommend going there and you will be in for a nice surprise. They have a section for installing scripts that is where I installed Magento and they have several blog software you can choose from plus many more. The selection of scripts is big! I am very happy with them. The only catch of course is you cannot get a domain name like you would in a pay account you have to settle for a sub-domain with whatever domain name they provide. I don't care about that, unless you do then you should not have a problem.

Good luck,

Victor

PS none of the sites built with these free hosting includes Ads! That is another thing I loved,

Hey freshform that site you provided is also very nice. Thanks for the link I just bookmarked it!

If you have low traffic volume, A Small Orange has $35 a year + $10 a domain name hosting.

They have auto scripts to install site software of your choice, such as word press.

Hello!

Can someone recommend me completely free, ad free hosting services that offer the most common setting for free?

I had previously 2 free services like this, but both closed down and need to host my little personal blog. Thanks in advance.

Yes, host it yourself. There's no hosting fee's, no ads, and all of the most common settings are right at your finger tips waiting to be configured.
