Spielberg to make 'Napoleon' miniseries

Steven Spielberg will develop Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon into a television miniseries.

The Lincoln director will tackle the legendary filmmaker's unfinished life's work, reports The Playlist.

"I've been developing Stanley Kubrick's screenplay - for a miniseries not for a motion picture - about the life of Napoleon. Kubrick wrote the script in 1961, a long time ago," Spielberg told French network Canal+.

Development of the film based on the life of the emperor was cancelled in Kubrick's lifetime due to mounting location costs.

Spielberg completed Kubrick's final project A.I. Artificial Intelligence following the latter's death in 1999.

The director has inherited a vast collection of Kubrick's research for Napoleon.

Spielberg has also been working on a television project with Tom Hanks.
