Here's why:

1. Costs $99/year. ( So you are paying your shipping charges In Advance).

2. When you select the "Prime Option", the Price of an item increases significantly.

Lets take a look at a real example. Here's a book that I wanted to Buy:

Click on New from $85.00 and You see its prices? The top most is: $85.00 + $3.99 shipping + $0.00 estimated tax. Now if we check "Prime" option next to Show only, we see a price increase of this book to whopping $113.17 + $10.04 estimated tax AND its "Eligible for free shipping with Amazon Prime" Yeah Right! So it becomes $113.17 +$10.04 + previously paid in advance $99.00. So how does it makes your life comfortable and how does one gains from this service?

3. I know you can always choose a shipping method and select from other buying sources but the point is why people are spending $99/ year and on top of that paying much higher price for an item which would otherwise cost way less than "Amazon Prime"?

I did posted about this few months back but this time I am posting with a proof.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

But you also get to stream tv shows and movies and music too. I think there is something in there for audibles as well. You can also share it with your friends and family.

If you don't like it that's fine but I had a prime membership for many years and my friends and family have gotten a lot of use out of it.

And my experience buying things with prime shipping is usually cheaper. There is also the fact that the $85 book you are looking it is used vs amazons new.

Also when I click prime I get one for $94 with free shipping.

Also, the 2 day guaranteed shipping is Bull$hit.  As I write this, I was supposed to receive a package from Amazon today.  The delay is most likely the fact that they shipped it via the USPS which doesn't guarantee any delivery date.  Emailed Amazon  and they gave me a $5.00 credit.  Luckily I'm on their free month trial and will be cancelling it in a few days.

Obviously OP doesn't understand that Amazon is a marketplace with various vendors charging different prices for items and shipping. And if you want something Shipped and Sold, Shipped from Amazon or Fulfillment by Amazon it falls under Prime shipping. Don't like it, fine, go pay less for the item and more for shipping and sit and wait for it.

And as pointed out, the book you are comparing is USED compared to Amazon's NEW copy. So.. Apples and Oranges

Where does the tracking show it? And the shipping with USPS has been changed as they now have an agreement with Amazon to provide better shipping/faster tracking and Sunday delivery in a lot of areas.

I've ordered a lot of stuff from amazon and I gotta say apart from two times my orders were mis delivered (amazon replaced them for free) the delivery date was always hit.

I order stuff on Amazon all the time, I love my prime subscription. It's the cheapest place to get my cat food (little bugger has allergies, it's about $10 cheaper on prime than in store) and I order electronics and cables all the time.  $5 for an HDMI cable shipped to my house in 2 days is pretty good IMO.  I've never had them miss a delivery target.

If you would just scroll down the page before selecting the Prime check box you will see the item for sale from Amazon for $113.17 and it is the same price when you select Prime.   Try and do a better job checking things out before crying wolf.

I have Prime and it is a bargain for me. I purchase a lot of items and they have always arrived in the time shown and, in fact, I've had purchases arrive a day early.  Nearly all of my Xmas shopping has been done on Amazon and Prime has saved me time and money.  I had 2 orders arrive on Sunday now through the USPS.  Prime is great if you use all the services available.  IMO

1. If you buy a lot of items and save more than $99 on shipping then it is a good deal. You also get free TV shows, movies, music and ebooks

2.Not all third party sellers use prime and can sell cheaper items then amazon price. Did you even look at the "Seller Information" column in your link? It doesn't say Amazon.

3.Used vs New.  TV shows, movies, music and ebooks again.

If Amazon TV and movies had more content than Netflix then I would drop Netflix so fast.

No scam here -

Who taught you how to use the computer?  I have not seen a dinosaur like yourself to use the computer for online ordering...

There is no dinosaurs food at Amazon.

Now stay off the PC and go outside and play with the dinosaurs.  :p

Joking aside....

No scam on Amazon.. No problems so far with my orders these days.

The USPS has 15 minutes to deliver my package.  It says that it will be delivered by 8pm.  It was received in a town about 1/2 hour from my house.  If they deliver it by 8ish I'll reconsider my original rant.

Anytime my shipments show "USPS" I cringe. :pinch:  I've had instances where my package shows delivered and USPS doesn't drop it off until the next day. I've called Amazon to complain numerous time. All they do each time is offer me a credit. I still love my Prime, I'm just not a big fan of USPS.

Your 'proof' is one item?

Comedy at its best.

The earliest USPS delivery for me from Amazon was 10:30 am, the latest was 4:30 pm and that was on Sunday.  It looks like you won't receive yours until tomorrow.  Call Amazon customer service tomorrow and request a credit.
