I personally love the old metal ones best, but the plastic ones are cheaper and if they do bend like the OP's, then you can just toss it out and get a new one. To the OP: Have you tried heating up the plastic and putting it back into shape? Keep in mind I mean warm enough to make the plastic plyable not melting and burning. While not the safest option and not one I suggest doing, but an option none the less. Easy street for plastic version - preheat the oven at 250, then set the slinky on a tin foil lined cookie sheet. Let it sit for about 10 to 20 minutes, but kinda guage it. The slinky will set back into position. For metal ones, it's a little more tricky, but totally fixable. I won't get into this though.
