Black Friday here in the US is the day after Thanksgiving where retailers have ultra-low prices on a variety of items in order to jump start the holiday shopping season. Now, a new rumor at Droid-Life claims that the highly anticipated Galaxy Nexus smartphone could go on sale the week of or just after Black Friday, which happens this year on November 25.
The story cites a leaked product roadmap from the phone's wireless carrier Verizon, which shows the Galaxy Nexus as being released sometime after Black Friday although its possible that the Samsung-made phone could launch beforehand. Of course, the phone will be the first to have Google's Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system.
While the phone could be available for sale around Black Friday, don't expect any deep price cuts from Verizon. The phone is slated to get a $299.99 price point so there will likely be no getting up at midnight or 4 am in order to get a cheaper price.
Verizon is going to have a ton of new Android-based phones available for sale during the holiday season, including the Motorola RAZR (also priced at $299.99) and the HTC Rezound. With all of those exclusive phones, plus Apple's iPhone 4S still selling out, Verizon's revenue numbers could be in for a big revenue push by the time the holiday season is over.
