SNK's King of Fighters Maximum Impact is coming to North America, if a new teaser page from SNK Neo Geo USA is any indication. Now online at www.kofmi.com, the page features the familiar logo from the game's Japanese promotional page and a promise to deliver "The Ultimate 3D Fighting Experience."

For those having a rough time sorting out the numerous new iterations of the King of Fighters franchise, Maximum Impact is a 3D offshoot of the main team-based 2D fighting series. It's coming to PlayStation 2 later this year, while the next two 2D games in the series, King of Fighters Neo Wave and King of Fighters 2004, are in development for Sammy's Atomiswave arcade hardware.

Maximum Impact may be expected to have an easier time making its way to the states than some of SNK's other recent localization projects, so we'll endeavor to pick up the full story as soon as possible.

crosses fingers.... any chance for a PC version? If nothing else, next to NeoGeo and the arcade the biggest KOF players are on the PC.

Going 3D huh... I hope they don't screw up the gameplay... And I must admit that they will prolly scew it up and make the gameplay like Tekken. Bad bad bad idea...

yeah, it would be cool if it is basically the same game play, just new angles.
