Relatively hot on the heels of the previous trailer, there is another new movie for The Lord of the Rings: the Battle for Middle-Earth to show the upcoming fantasy 3D real-time strategy game by EA Pacific in motion. Part seven in the series, this clip comes in the usual medium and high resolutions to offer some five minutes of in-game and discussion footage with game design director Dustin Browder discussing the player's special powers.

At present the new venture is being called "Exclaim," but this is apparently only a temporary name and is likely to be replaced before the firm starts trading. Cousens is joined in the new venture by Europlay Capital Advisers, the Los Angeles based firm which is headed by industry veterans Sean Brennan and Mark Dyne and has advised on a number of major industry deals in recent years.

It's expected that along with the Cheltenham and Manchester studios - accounting for some 160 employees - "Exclaim" will also take possession of several of Acclaim's products in development, including Interview with a Made Man and Heist.

For those of you who haven't been paying attention, this "EA Pacific" stuff is the new home of (some of) the former Westwood Studios team, which was bought out and dismantled by EA a couple of years ago.

They also made Generals, and this new game is using the same engine.
