Xbox Live Camera

With the Xbox Live Camera, video chat and video messaging with your friends becomes more than just a feature set; it is an integrated part of the Xbox Live experience. Connect and communicate while playing the same or different games, watching movies, listening to music, and more. The Xbox Live Camera also takes personalization to a whole new level and allows you to customize your gaming experience by putting your face on characters in your games, all while being able to video chat with your friends as you play online. And with next-generation online motion-detection-enabled games, the Xbox Live Camera puts you entirely in the game and in control of the on-screen characters over Xbox Live.

  • High-end online camera supports up to VGA 640x480 video at 30 frames per second and takes 1.3-megapixel still photos.
  • The camera includes a microphone that connects to the controller, so everyone in the room can chat online with their friends.
  • The camera supports built-in video chat and video messaging on Xbox Live.
  • Your face can be imported into games and can also be placed next to your name on leader boards for even more recognition or fame.
  • Chat with your friends while you play online in Xbox 360 games as well as in the Xbox Live Arcade.

Xbox 360 Headset

You can record and leave short voice messages for friends or family through the free Xbox Live Message Service or connect with buddies online using the headset in place of the phone. Turn it up or turn it down, and experience the most intense gaming experience possible.

  • Boom microphone can be adjusted for optimal sound quality.
  • In-line volume control and mute switch let users adjust the headset volume or switch mute on and off easily.
  • Noise-canceling microphone improves game response to voice commands, and provides crisp and clear voice communication.
  • Lightweight, over-the-head design enables comfortable use.
  • The headset plugs directly into either the Xbox 360 Controller or Xbox Wireless Controller for easy use.

Xbox 360 Memory Unit

  • Transport your Memory Unit in the portable carrying case that fits on your keychain.
  • The Memory Unit (64 MB) requires no setup. Just plug it in, and you can save your favorite games.
  • Xbox 360 holds up to two Memory Units, so you can easily upgrade to more storage space.

Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote

Play DVD movies and music, plus control your TV and your Media Center PC with one controller. The centralized, glowing Xbox Guide Button gives you quick access to your digital movies, music, and games library, and backlit buttons make the keypad easy to see in a darkened home theater. So kick back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

  • Power your Xbox 360 system on or off without leaving the couch.
  • The Xbox Guide Button allows for easy navigation of the Xbox Gamer Guide.
  • The Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote includes control buttons for your music, pictures, and more.
  • The Xbox 360 supports progressive-scan for DVD playback functionality, including a control for opening and closing the tray.
  • The remote supports universal TV and console functionality, including volume and mute buttons and up-and-down channel changing.
  • Windows XP Media Center Edition Button and Media Center Edition functionality are featured.
  • A, B, X, and Y buttons are included for basic control of your Xbox 360 system, even without a controller.
  • Numbered and backlight keypad gives you full functionality, even in the dark.

How much bandwidth is it going to take up to do video chat and play games and voice chat at the same time? Methinks that microsoft is asking a bit much considering the average speed of today's cable modem.
Quote this comment #4.1 Posted by njlouch on 03 Jun 2005 - 07:49
I disagree. The X360 is not released "today". Also, I have the bandwidth needed, and consider myself representative of the type of person who will buy these things.

Sure, the casual gamer may not - but the X360/gadget enthusiast will most likely have a good enough connection.

Well outside of select locations in America, Europe, and Asia, high speed internet is very difficult to get. The fastest most people can get in Australia is 1.5mb. Some people can get 8mb (less then 1 million I would estimate), and even fewer can get 24mb (very few people who can get ADSL2+).

I'm stuck on an Unlimited 256kbps plan because all the 1.5mb plans suck. They have download caps.

I fully agree with your statement. Even in USA, most cable services are regional with high degree of monopoly. It means that whatever service they offer you, you take it and pay preimium or else eat dial-crap.

The video chat is not likely going to be used in games that require a lot of bandwidth, like Perfect Dark 0.

Instead it will be used for the LIVE Arcade while playing Texas Hold 'Em and games like that...

are these all free with the x360 or do you have to buy them if so what about people who already own a xbox headset ?
Quote this comment #5.1 Posted by Lexcyn on 04 Jun 2005 - 04:15
Yeah right. Free? Look what they did to the first XBOX. You had to buy the DVD playback kit before you could even use the BUILT IN hardware to play DVD's. I would imagine these items will be expensive add-on's.

why why why are they putting the windows logo on the remote?!!!
Quote this comment #10.1 Posted by cryptic on 03 Jun 2005 - 12:44
Probably because its compatible with WinXP media edition. And its probably running some form of Windows OS for the dashboard.

The current XBOX Media Center Remote has the same green Windows logo button...

You push the green button to start up the Media Center Extender Software built into the XBOX360 which then connects to your Windows XP Media Center PC to access recorded TV, Live TV, Pictures, Video, Music, Etc...

View: Current XBOX MCX Remote Picture

I think the new remote looks much nicer then the current version.

Still think, memory card is crappy idea for a next gen console.

wtf... it will have HD (right?) why did it put memory slots on it? People should have been able to use USB/SD/CF flash cards instead.
Quote this comment #12.1 Posted by threedaysdwn on 03 Jun 2005 - 14:43
The probably are SD cards. In fact, I think even the current MUs are, but not sure.

The thing is, they change the packaging so that only specially designed and supported cards work. It's a tried-and-true revenue stream. There's also a quality control aspect, and concerns about what happens if someone buys a really slow SD card and complains tha the X360 takes too long to save games - or even stutters during autosaves.

On the other hand, I do agree with you. Having a traditional SD slot would be preferrable (even if they only officially supported "approved" cards).
Quote this comment #12.2 Posted by FightingChance on 03 Jun 2005 - 17:43
I also agree about the SD slot. The Nintendo Revolution and PS3 are both supposed to have a pure SD slot on the unit somewhere, if I remember correctly.
Quote this comment #12.3 Posted by ghos on 03 Jun 2005 - 19:22
I agree its a mistake to not make them SD cards or at least an adaptor that SD cards fit into. To be sure it is a revenue stream, but why not make it easier. It could potentially be possible to view content from an SD card then directly via the Xbox.

Not that I'm terribly interested in the Xbox or the PS3 for that matter. Impressive graphics isn't going to get me to buy a system. I want games I can play and enjoy. Their focus is on the numbers, statistics and how it looks.

From what I understand about SD cards they have very fast read and write rates ... even the cheapest cards.
Quote this comment #12.5 Posted by eminem213486 on 04 Jun 2005 - 00:29
uhm you guys, you do know that you will probably be able to hook up your cardreader to the 360 right? the thing supports mass storage media, (digital cameras, the psp, etc.) so it will read your special sd cards no problem, why is this such a big issue? id hate to have all those slots on the 360, i wish it iddnt even have the memory slots and just used a usb flash drive for all the savegames, it would be easier on us and them but i can see why they opted for memory cards, its a nice revenue stream. but they mightallow us to save to usb flash cards, its all storage media afterall (but then again there is that uncompatability problem, usb1.1 and usb 2.0 drives. one will be slower to write to blah blah)
Quote this comment #12.6 Posted by Devlin on 06 Jun 2005 - 14:56
THe reason you would want a memory card would be so you could take your Madden Team and Stats, Created Wrestlers, MVP Baseball Team ect, over to your friends house, so you could play aganst each other, not everyone has XBOX Live and even if the do the may still want to play offline against each other.

it all looks so cheap
Quote this comment #13.1 Posted by neufuse on 03 Jun 2005 - 13:57
it looks cheap because they are all rendered images, none of them are actual pictures

I've never understood why remotes always have seperate play and pause buttons. They should be combined.

The controller is beautiful!

(1 reply) Quote this comment Reply to this comment #16 Posted by TGD on 04 Jun 2005 - 13:52
The controller is the XBox controller in white. It's really not all that "beautiful".

It intrigues me that "The Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote was engineered to serve as your integrated control center for the entire Xbox 360 experience. ". There I was thinking that a controller may be a good thing to get the full experience from a games console

controler looks awsome, remote was as expexted, headset - nothing new or special
now what is the problem with the camera?? I mean it looks cool to me
as far as the memory card, where has anyone heard that it would be able to be put on your keychain?? and then again why would I, it''s just as big as the last one,
and for the one person who said why would I need one - how else are you going take your madden stats and team, or your created wresteler or your MVP Baseball team over to your firends house.
