EA ships the sequel to its popular Lord of the Rings-inspired PC real-time strategy game; Xbox 360 version coming later in the year.

Of all the games based on the Lord of the Rings, the most critically acclaimed was the Battle for Middle-earth. The PC real-time strategy game let players control any of the various good and evil armies that warred for control of the realms in author J.R.R. Tolkien's novels. Like other EA Rings games, it featured art assets and video clips from director Peter Jackson's multibillion-dollar-grossing film trilogy based on the aforementioned books.

I just bought it today. I think its what BFME I should have been. Freeform building! Whoohooo. It's a great game. Its the first PC game I've bought in years.

I really liked the first BFME a lot. The new building system added some interesting strategy and tended to make the games go faster. This game looks fun, but my desktop is too old to run it and I'm not interested until I can buy two copies for head-to-head play.

Played the demo, and was very impressed. So many options for base building! Definetly getting this game!

WTF? Freeform building!? :o

IMO, the original BfME was just C&C Generals with LotR heroes and basis. But this one might take the cake...

The first BFME had limited foundations where you could build. So once your castle was full of buildings (7-9 depending on who you were) then you were forced to move out of your base and take more land. It seemed limiting but I thought it made for some really interesting strategy and made land more worth fighting over.

i downloaded the 1.5GB demo, had to clear up 3GB of space so it could extract, only for it to run and tell me it won't run on windows 2000

Yeah, had the same problem with my processor being too slow. They should have put the system requirements on the download page.
