Sony yesterday released an update for their handheld console, the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Version 2.80 adds several welcome new features, such as support for video podcasts and AAC .3gp music files. The new firmware also adds support for viewing content in the root and sub folders of the Memory Stick Duo.
To obtain the updated firmware, connect your PSP to the internet via a wireless access point or router, then select "Network Update" from the Settings menu. Please note: It is not possible at this time to downgrade your firmware once you have updated it, so please keep this in mind if you are a user of "homebrew" software (PSP version 1.5).
