MMORPG.com has a terrific editorial piece that they just posted last night where they discuss the upcoming expansion to World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade. In the discussion, MMORPG.com talk about several issues with the expansion, including more grinding, same old same old, why couldn't Blizzard add that Hero/Prestige class they spoke about previously, has Blizzard given up on actual changes in lieu of keeping the status quo?

MMORPG.com and I both agree on one thing - The Burning Crusade is going to sell buckets and make Blizzard billions of bucks. Indeed.

Sadly, the core elements of WoW are grinding and raiding. There isn't much that can change that.

all I can is: WoW there are so many suckers in this world

Blizzard taking the easy way going the asian mmorpg on us now, they better release StarCraft 2 soon... and it better be GOOD!

Wow, that was a pointless and inaccurate article. Makes me wonder whether he plays the game, let alone the beta ...

Obviously, having a giant continents hanging in mid-air, half broken up and twisted around, with the ability to fly anywhere you want is nothing new. Hmm, that sound just like Elwynn Forest, doesn't it.

His first sentence asking whether it will force people to replay from the beginning just doesn't seem to make sense? Does he want that 'ordeal' or not? Why does he think it's in any way relevant?

It kinda sounds like he wishes he was playing another game, but can't bring himself to do anything about it (his continual references to WoW being easy I disagree with especially - it very much depends on your play style. Of course it's easy if you take it slow).

(this is coming from someone who knows very well the changes coming up)

Edit: yes, before someone else says it - it's not a huge innovative leap, it's true. Blizzard don't do that, they refine.

New enviroments doesn't make the content "new" as such, it just means tsuff looks different..

and lfoating islands is hardly that new.. other MMORPG's, better MMORPGs have had that a while now.. but then Blizzard have ripped a lot of stuff of of that MMORPG.

Blizzard is making bank on the game. So many players have dumped months into playing the game doing the "same old same old" so Blizzard must be doing something right.

I've really enjoyed playing the game but I've been taking a break until the expansion comes out. I hope blizzard releases a new game soon.

I dont agree, i think this expansion was made to add more skills and spells to the current classes, and it totally changes the way a class is being played when u reach level70, so its not more of the same, i expect blizzard to change the graphics engine and add more classes in the next expansion.

yeah they kinda drop the hero class which ****es me off. It's really not like they didn't have the time or the money to implement it in, it's just like they are farting around trying to justify content for a second expansion.

MMORPG.com owner always talks like that about world of warcraft your aritcal should be based on true facts not taken from mmorpg, the owner of that site favors city of heroes and i think that is the main game he plays so he really matches everything to that game if you look in his reviews on WOW he will match the customizations to city of heroes. i know for a fact i wont be buying this game when it comes out sence i played all class's to atleast 50 over a year, and sence they didnt realese any new class's i wont be going back to this game.

I love these editorial idiots, what one person eats doesn't make another one crap! what one or 2 people who beta test a game and say it sucks doesn't make it so. Now having said that As everyone knows I do alot of consulting in allot of areas for allot of different companies so I have some knowledge about this. As well as my wife works in software and at their annual sales meeting in august blizzard was one of the guest speakers.

they showed some video and gave some information about the upcoming release it looks awesome. now where people got the facts that there isnt going to be anything new is completely and utterly your of their mind. there is allot of new things including 2 new classes yes i said 2 new classes. which is stated clearly com amazon for pre orders which I already ordered. so allot of people are going to be very much surprised. and Blizzard nor I and allot of other people have no doubt it will be the biggest selling expansion ever.
