Canadian retailers have also been instructed by Sony to reduce the price of the 60GB PlayStation 3 to the price previously occupied by the 20GB version: $549 CAD. The $110 price drop means Canada will have the PS3 costing the same as the Xbox 360 Elite. It is unclear if Microsoft will change the pricing on its Xbox 360 Elite model in Canada to reflect the position of its U.S. counterpart. In the U.S., the Xbox 360 Elite sells for $20 less than the new PlayStation 3 price. The Canadian market benefits significantly less from the added 100GB from the Xbox 360 Elite’s 120GB hard disk drive as there are no movies or TV shows on the Xbox Live Marketplace in Canada.

Looks like we're gonna see some real competition now. Wait a minute, Canadian users don't have a Marketplace on Live? Either that's just cruel to them, or they mean the Video Marketplace.

We have XBLA marketplace. We have a lot of themes, pictures packs and XBLA games.

We have game trailer movies. But that's it.

We don't have anything else worth of mentionning.

Damn I just bought my PS3 yesterday. Anyway am I eligible for the price discount. Will I have to return the ps3 back to the shop. Also i've been hearing about this 5 free blue-ray movies when purchasing a qualified blu-ray player. Is that offer also in canada.

Also theirs crap on the 360 market place except for game demos and live arcade.

wow....this shifts my view a little bit... same as and x360 and it comes with a blue ray drive ............. intresting....

except i think xbox lives community is stronger/better.....

Dont base your decision on features, no one cares about bluray/hddvd we can all live without for now. Base your decision on what games you like on each console.

I knew this would happen. If Sony would have waited a year or 2 to release the PS3 and had final fantasy and metal gear as launch titles for the Ps3, Sony would have been very successful in sales (very, very, successful, hell I would have bought one). Instead they rushed it to compete with the 360 which is cheaper and already had the same games. Nobody cares about blue ray. Gamers are not going to buy a system for blue ray. Until metal gear and final fantasy sales will continue to be weak.

If the PS3 came out in exactly one year from now with Final Fantasy and Metal Gear as launch titles....would you by one...of course you would. Who was the dumb executive who decided to release the PS3 at this time...hope he loses his job. timing is everything.

Hm... in USA, PS3 = $500.

$500 USD = $523 CAD

Failure to compute...

It sucks too, because even if the Canadian Dollar does overtake United States', it's still gonna be probably a couple years before they drop the Canadian price to equal that of the American price, when by that time, ours should be cheaper. Too bad you'll get nailed by customs buying this thing from the States, otherwise that'd be the obvious option. NAFTA my ass!
