Market research firm NPD is reporting that U.S. sales of video game hardware and software jumped 73% in October to $1.1 billion (compared with $643 million a year earlier). Nintendo’s Wii console regained its spot as the top-selling console with 519,000 consoles sold while Microsoft Corporation sold 366,000 Xbox 360s and Sony Corporation sold 121,000 of its PlayStation 3 machines. "What this demonstrates is that we are putting more and more product into the marketplace and we continue to sell out as soon as it hits," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. Microsoft's 'Halo 3' was the best-selling game on a single console, moving 433,800 copies, but Activision Incorporated's "Guitar Hero 3" needed just six days on the market to sell a combined 1.4 million copies across all three major consoles, as well as Sony's older PlayStation 2.

With all the big games coming out this month the trend looks like it's going to continue! This has been one of the best months for games that I can remember for a LONG time!
