Mario & Sonic, CoD 4 and FIFA 08 in closely fought battle for top spot. Where's Need For Speed?

Sega's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is clinging on to the top spot in the current UK sales charts as Christmas rapidly approaches - but it's doing so by its fingernails.

Both Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (currently second) and FIFA 08 in third place are biting at its heels according to ChartTrack, which says that only 2,500 sales separate the top three positions.

Can CoD 4 or FIFA 08 make one final surge for the finish line and leave Mario & Sonic without the gold medal and the Christmas number one spot? There's not long to wait to find out...

Traditional Christmas number one Need for Speed is currently in fourth place with NFS ProStreet, and with that a drop down from two for the week ending December 15, it's looking like it'll have to settle for a runners-up award.

Here's the current all-format top ten:

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
FIFA 08
Need for Speed ProStreet
The Simpsons Games
WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2008
Assassin's Creed
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
Super Mario Galaxy
The Golden Compass

COD4 and NFS ProStreet are the only ones I would consider.

ProStreet has been getting horrible reviews.

So has The Golden Compass but it's on that list lol. The only game on that list I have is CoD4 and it deserves to be on there. I've put more time into that game than any other one I have, including Mass Effect (which took me right around 43hrs to finish the first time).

I'm just confounded that Galaxy is lower on the list than Smackdown, and Olympic.... WTH?

Most wanted was the last nfs game i enjoyed, carbon sucked, haven't even bothered with pro street. Stared NFS with High Stakes, now that was an awesome game. Great value with the amount of content.
