EA bites back after being described as "pigs"

A German woman has received a response from Electronic Arts after describing the publisher as a "pig of a company", according to gamer.tm. The "Computer and Video Game Violence" conference in Munich last Thursday saw the comment made in the audience by Regina Pfeiffer, sister of outspoken critic Christian Pfeiffer. The attack was provoked by the fact that she's unable to sue EA over a game, as they're not based in Germany.

Surprisingly, EA have actually responded. EA Germany's Martin Lorber said in an interview with Golem.de that "should Mrs Regina Pfeiffer have actually lost her composure to the point of describing Electronic Arts as being a ‘a pig of a company', then I can only recommend that she apologises in full – at least, [she should] if she wishes to be taken seriously again in the future". Lorber states that he intended on going, but was glad that he didn't, as he has "no interest" in low-level discussion with people not interested in speaking to game developers.

IMO they are a bunch of sissies for not taking action. They are also in denial that they have went downhill. Good day >.<

they would be "sisies" to take action, why waste your time with losers

with that said i hope EA goes broke and will be split up in to new small companies again, ALL large corporations are PIG's by deffinition

Watch out, they could still decide to buy Neowin to shut us up.

You know, if they went totally overkill for suing her for slander then everybody would still complain. Quite frankly, EA has taken the right course of action IMO.

EA used to be a great developer, but I'm going back to the days of Road Rash on the Megadrive/Genesis. I'm just pleased they didn't interfere with Football Manager at all. They may have their Logo on the box, but at least it's Sports Interactive that develop the game.

Isn't it SEGA?

Wrong game. EA publish the FIFA Manager series, which is developed by Bright Future. Football manager is published by SEGA.

Yeah, whoops too early in the morning. I could have sworn that there was an EA logo on the box of Football Manager in Game the other day. I get the impression that the staff are messing with me.

They are greedy pigs, but not for those reasons.... sims expansion madness anyone? how about NFS Undercover... what a bug fest and I can assure everyone there will be no patches for it.

I'm not sure if "a pig of a company" correctly represents the sense of the German word she actually used ("Schweinefirma")...

Company of pigs ?
#6 premedios on 27 Nov 2008 - 10:41
HAHA! Serves her right! That's the way to respond! Not to give in to what anybody demands! GO EA!
#7 Angry_Badger on 27 Nov 2008 - 12:17
I RTFA but it didnt make clear why exactly she wanted to sue EA and over what game exactly. If shes trying to sue because of some video game violence=real life violence thing then she can tell her story walking as far as Im concerned.

she should say sorry for what calling EA a pig of a company as we say here in New Zealand "YEAH RIGHT" it's only slander if it is inaccurate or false and quite frankly i agree with her EA are a pig of a company have you seen their forums, full of complaints about games not working because of this bug or that bug lately the state of gaming has gone down hill i cant stand how most games out for the PC these days look like some cheap ass nock off console rip (nfs pro street anyone) but as for games causing violence in the real world only if your that way inclined thats why you wont see a ps3 or xbox in a secure hospital for the criminaly insane

Oh brother. How the mighty have fallen.
You know, I remember when EA was THE cutting-edge game developer. I'm talking way back in the Apple II days.
Karateka, anyone? That game was freaking amazing... especially considering that hardware it was running on. It was the world's first "fighting game", years before Mortal Combat or Street Fighter or any of that crap.

These days they're know as the kiss of death in the gaming development community: If a game developer gets bought out by EA, everything they produce after that is mediocre at best.

For thoe of you who are gonn say "But Crysis and FarCry rock, and that's published by EA" let me remind you that EA DOES NOT OWN CryTek. They just publish their stuff, they down own the developer.

Karateka was Broderbund, not EA. EA had M.U.L.E., Archon, Racing Destruction Set, Mail Order Monsters, Realms of Impossibility, Adventure Construction Set, The Bard's Tale, and many other games that were better than most of their recent offerings.

YAY ARCHON! I've tried playing that on an emulator, but it's just not the same. Loved that game... I still remember the slow "loading" EA graphic as my Commodore 64 loaded all those games.

wow, that conference sounds like a right barrel of laughs!

not really the right reasons to call them pigs.
#12 SpyCatcher on 28 Nov 2008 - 01:48
I stopped buying EA games, there were several I wanted but passed.
#13 Albert on 28 Nov 2008 - 09:24
give both of them some much needed laxative ... that, or have them fight it out in mud wrestling ... i'm sure they will both be happy in it.
#14 Bri- on 28 Nov 2008 - 13:35
It's sad people pick and choose which games to buy based on the publisher. Where's the love of the game? EA may be a huge, monolithic corporation, but come on! So this angry German girl called EA out (in so many words) -- big deal. I miss my NES more than ever now.
#15 Magallanes on 28 Nov 2008 - 23:17
BE CAREFUL.
Miss Pfeiffer is just a new Jack Thompson with skirt, while nobody likes EA but truly what is worst, a company full of pigs or a group of idiots playing as activist and deciding what is good for everybody?

I'm sure this lady is a jackass but EA is a pig of a company. TBH they are a piece of **** company who like to release sequel after sequel no matter how shitacular the game is and with a craptastic QA department.

I think it the parents fault if their kid becomes violent as a result of a video game.
I love violent games, and I played them all the time (and still do) but I havent become violent.
