Day 1 of GDC is about the summits. The show floor isn't open yet. I mostly spent the day meeting with other game developers and the media and exchanging ideas.

I did a session on hard-core PC gaming. Here's some things I was involved in. For those of you who have ever attended a trade show, you know how hard it is to sit down and do a write up. If there's anything you particular you want me to look for, comment here.

I would like to have some light shed on Havoc, PhysX and DirectX 11. Physics in gaming, basically and if we as consumers must buy SLI/CF rigs with one AMD card and one nVidia card to be able to play "all" games with accelerated physics (since I understand some support PhysX and others Havoc already) or if DirectX 11 could (help) eliminate this?

I understand this is hard as you said in the post to just do a write up on, but maybe someone else could answer me, though I can do fine without speculations..

I'm not sure if its the case you need SLI/CF, I thought you could have a nVIDIA card set up as a dedicated PhysX card... thought I read that somewhere then have other cards not in SLI/CF or in SLI/CF do the graphics end of it

I know we plan to talk to Intel about Havoc this week. Need a 64-bit version of it!

Tell us about CryEngine3 when you see it! When run on PC, does it look better than CryEngine2?

"No full-priced stardock game has ever gotten a metascore less than 85. And one of the reason for that is that we have these long-gestation betas, where the game starts out a piece of crap, and by the time we get through that it turns out beautiful."

From the shacknews link It's a good read.
