Google is an everyday companion for many of us, putting the knowledge of the world at our fingertips thanks to its hugely versatile search engine. But along with providing searches for news, images, locations, tickets, information and countless other bits from across the web, Google is now preparing to leverage its expertise in another new area: job searches.
The Google Hire login page has already gone live, but the service hasn't been officially announced, and it's not yet possible to actually log in.
Axios reports that Google Hire will allow employers to post job listings, and then process and manage applications through the site. Numerous companies - including CoreOS, DramaFever, Medisas, Poynt, and SingleHop - are said to already be testing the service. It was apparently developed by Google's enterprise and cloud division, headed up by Diane Greene, whose startup company, Bebop, was acquired by Google in 2015.
Google's move into job searches could help to streamline the process of finding and applying for jobs online. Depending on exactly what Google has planned for the service, it could also rival Microsoft's professional networking platform, LinkedIn.
