'Hey, Cortana' feature makes a return on Android, but only within the app

Cortana received an update on Android today, and there's good news and bad news. The good news is that the 'Hey, Cortana' feature is back, but the bad news is that it's only available within the app.

Last year, the full feature was made available, but later discontinued due to a bug with Android. Now, it would seem that this is the best that Microsoft can offer in the 'Hey, Cortana' department on Google Play Android devices.

Here;s the official changelog:

  • Continue to optimize battery usage on certain Android phones

  • Easier access to the voice button

  • Use 'Hey Cortana' from the app to talk with Cortana.

The new update brings the app's version number to 1.7.1.1044. You'll also find that with version 1.7.1 and greater, your phone's notifications will sync with a Windows 10 PC that's running the latest Insider Preview build.

The update is available now and you can download it from the Google Play Store right here.
