Thanks to ahodes1 for the heads up.

Microsoft are emailing Hotmail POP users informing them of another erosion to the free service:

"Dear MSN® Hotmail® User:

We are sorry to inform you that as of July 16, 2002, we will no longer be able to offer POP Mail Retrieval to our Hotmail users with a standard free account. This means that you will not be able to aggregate e-mail from various accounts into a single Hotmail account.

If you would like to continue to use this feature, you can sign up for MSN Extra Storage.

This of course costs... $19.95 (plus taxes) a year as POP Retrieval has been added to the MSN Extra Storage offering that allows for 10MB of online storage.
