i don't really care for itunes or any of the Mac Apps, WMP does what i need it to do. i don't like their desktops but i think there laptops are cool, but still cost to much for me in terms of what i could get on the PC side in terms of performance and software availabilty.
maybe i'll reconsider if they ever bring their upcoming 64bit chip to the notebooks anytime soon.

- Wow... thats a big scoop.
I have been waiting for a good alternative to Winamp (sorry, but Windows Media Player is just not my cup of tea) and this looks like a real contender.
Go Apple!!

i know you are and i never said anything about the quality of itunes for windows, that's why i was letting you know that when i was talking about bloatware i wasn't speaking of itunes, i was speaking of Realone.

- Hmm... actually, Windows is short of an application that plays MP3s etc. Can't believe no one's thought of it until now!
So, is iTunes good then?

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. A halfast port job like they do with Quicktime.

- I for one would love to see a Windows version of iTunes, but only if it worked as well as the Mac original. That's the problem with QuickTime, it at times can be quite "buggy", which is sad because I'm a big fan of Apple's software (due to how it is designed and layed out, sophisticated simplicity). I do see this as just a means for an end for Apple, and I somehow doubt they will put any major effort into making the Windows versions as worthwhile an application as the native version. Of course I could be wrong and it could be kick ass, let's hope so.

- Wonder if the Windows version of iTunes will be compatible with the new Microsoft crapper they are putting out?

- It wouldn't necessarily take the place of Media Player. It would take the place of Music Match for users of the PC iPod. (I'm guessing)

The Mac maker said on Monday that it would extend its music service to Windows-based machines by the end of the year, but did not explicitly say that it would do so through a Windows version of its iTunes. The service, named iTunes Music Store, is currently only available to Macs.
When Apple released its iPod for Windows, it chose to bundle jukebox software from MusicMatch with the portable MP3 player rather than to release a version of iTunes for the Microsoft operating system.
Nonetheless, the iTunes application is an integral part of the Mac version of the music service, being the software that allows people to play music, buy songs and transfer them to an iPod. In order to sell music to play on Windows machines, Apple clearly needs either its own software or another program to fulfill these functions and to manage copying restrictions.
