Microsoft has released an updated version of its free Windows Defender Anti Spyware software, dated 4/12/06 the installer comes in just under 6 MB -a little smaller than the earlier version. Users will need to pass the Genuine Windows check in order to download it.

EDIT: I have to say this latest release is great, they even added an option to make the system tray icon always be there (I like it been there, then I know it's still on and protecting my system)

EDIT: Is it me or do the posts go all weird when you quote and reply to someone who replied to another post? cause the post I replied to was orginally #9.4 but after I quoted and replied to it, it became #10 and my reply was #10.1 when it should of been #9.5 (I hope what I said made sense

Could it have something to do with the fact that this machine gets it's update from a WSUS server?
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1. Remove the current signature file. To do this, click Start, click Run, type Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}, and then click OK.
2. Open Windows Defender. To do this, click Start, click Programs, and then click Windows Defender.
3. Check for new definitions. To do this, click the Help options arrow next to the Windows Defender Help icon, click About Windows Defender, and then click Check for Updates.
