Well, we never really though they'd have the guts to do it, but those kooky cats over at Dell just outted the XPS M2010 first seen at CES. It's not a laptop, it's not a desktop, it's, well, something in between which isn't always the best place to be.

The XPS M2010 is pretty much spot-on to those leaked specs, meaning this roughly $4000 (about $8,000 fully spec'd) Windows Media Center PC maxes-out with a 2.16GHz Core Duo T2600, up to 4GB of dual-channel DDR2 memory, a 20.1-inch 1680 x 1050 LCD driven by a 256MB RADEON X1800 graphics card, up to 240GB of RAID 0/1 capable disk, 802.11a/b/g WiFi and a host of other features including a detachable Bluetooth keyboard with mouse, 1.3 megapixel cam integrated into the display bezel, and 8 built-in speakers with subwoofer and integrated high-definition audio. Portable? Well, this hog folds and has a handle but at nearly 20-pounds, you won't likely be taking it any further than the nearest LAN party.

I can see that being a LAN party machine. That appears to be exactly what it was made for. . or for those who want a tad more form with their fuction, and don't want a tower but don't want to be limited to the specs available on laptops.

And this matters why?

Seriously, you could have cleverly hidden your trolling into a more relevant comment about the real news item. But no, you figured that somebody on this board actually cared that you wanted to do that.

Haha, that mobility X1800 could play any game you throw at it and while it isn't quite as fast as the go 7900 it draws half the power. Such extreme loyalty to a single corporate entity makes you look very foolish.

<Troll> The same kind of person that actually buys a boat anchor from Apple, instead of a computer that just looks like a boat anchor from Dell. </troll>

That's a very nice design. I don;t see how they fit all of that stuff into a case so small though.

:X Good lord! That is the worst design idea ever! Maybe Dell should look into Apple's designs for some ideas!

hmm...$4000 for the computer,

but how much for the fusion reactor that powers it?

Cool design, though.

Hmm.. Can you say iDell?

So because it is small and uses a LCD for a display, it somehow looks like an iMac? I suppose desk lamps are also stealing from Apple's design play book? There are experts for people like you; they're called optometrists.

I think Dell actually might have become smart about the seperate keyboard compartment. When someone gets ticked off about being fragged in some way, at least some dude can smash the keyboard, instead of all the system components beneath the keyboard. HAHA

The round circle thingy looks like the perfect place for a 120MM fan to suck out all that hot air, or could possibly be the grill compartment for your pancake and eggs.
