Since the release of Windows Live Messenger some users have reported problems connecting to the service and retrieving mail through Windows Live Mail. Messages on the WLM newsgroups have indicated that this is due to server upgrades and the migration of hotmail accounts to the new Live Mail service. In a discussion on Neowins Back Page News it was reported that Microsoft temporarily made an updated build (792) available and then subsquently disabled the download. The following was posted on the Mess.be website:

An anonymous Messer sent me a copy of a message from John from the Windows Live Beta team, posted in the private newsgroup for managed messenger beta testers:

"Is there a build 792? Yes.

Should you be downloading it? Not really. To be honest, it's not officially released yet, test isn't done testing it, so you're installing it at your own risk. We don't have a date or time that it will be officially released. And, for what it is worth, you won't see any differences if you do use it.

What changed? I really want to know! I've really said all I can. Sorry."

Its looking like build 787 is the one everyone should be using until Microsoft puts out an update trigger from within Messenger itself.

In other news, Messer auroras discovered the following recently added Yahoo! Messenger references in the online help file:

"If you are sending a message to a Yahoo! Messenger address, enter the full e-mail address. You may see two entries for the same contact. This can occur when you add a Messenger contact that uses both Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger. To determine if a contact is using Yahoo! Messenger: Open a conversation window in Messenger. If there is a Yahoo! Messenger icon under the contact's display picture, they are using Yahoo! Messenger. Hover your mouse over the contact's name in the main Messenger window. If their e-mail address is followed by Yahoo!, they are using Yahoo! Messenger.

Furthermore, Messer mario found this in the type library: "A friend on the {33013} network has added you to their Messenger List. To send instant messages to {33013} contacts, sign up for the {61143} Beta.". Whereas {33013} is of course Yahoo!, but does "{61143} Beta" mean we'll see a Beta-version with Yahoo! integration first? Either way, they better hurry if they want to keep their "first half of 2006" launch estimation.

Not still; it has returned. It seems the release is now official but the forum thread was closed so no one could reply to say so. All languages are hosted there (says LiveSide). I've had it installed since the first go round without problem.

Live seems to have a web installer as well?: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

LOL...I installed both, neither worked. I installed the BETA and it worked fine. So I read a bunch of postings here and on MS Newsgroups to fix the problem I had witht he final release. None of them worked. I ended up removing it completely, installed GAIM and wow...it works fine...

I have the latest one installed and it doesnt work anymore either. It worked yesterday and now today it just trys to sign on and doesnt. I then have to reboot the system because it causes my comp to become unresponsive. It even screwed up Gaim for me.

Anyone else having any probs getting on this morning?
