- I used this program to change the product key on my dell dimension xp home to the one on the COA rather than the key from a network image and now whenever I turn the computer on I am told windows is not genuine and it won't activate. It also messed up my iTunes and AVG and bluetooth adapter. Avoid this program like the plague.

Just call Microsoft, give them your key, and they will fix it. Worked great on my Dell inspiron 8600 lappy. Had the volume license key from my old work on it, changed it for the OEM Pro key on the bottom of the machine. Just had to call and re-reg it with the provided 800 number... -

sorry your story is fake.
you can not use a oem key on a volume licence install.
no matter how much calling you do your story is false -

You're fake. You don't really exist. No matter how hard you try, you are merely the figment of the Internet's imagination.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way; he probably meant that the "VLK" key was really just a company-owned one from their image (so it could have been an MSDN key for all he knows), and that he replaced it with his laptop's product key on the sticker.
On the other hand, if it was a corporate VLK which he replaced with his OEM/Laptop key without a fresh reinstall, then I do concur that his story might be a fabrication. -

If that's your take on it Werejag, then you are definitely wrong. Go ahead and try it yourself. Set up a volume license key (or CORP version if you like), use the tool provided above, enter a OEM key, reboot, and call Microsoft. They will validate it without any problems, and you go from your corporate license ID, to a OEM license ID. Just did it on another machine, and works just fine.
It'd be nice if for once, you'd keep your trap shut when you don't know what you're spouting off, but I guess we can't get everything we want, now can we?

- The Guy is NOT fake!. He used the tool. to enter the OEM key off the bottom of his laptop. and did not try and enter a VLK key. That is what I got from reading it.

That's exactly what I did. The IT department at my old work used to use the corp version of windows, and I got tired of it always telling me it wasn't a legit version, so I used the tool above to change to my OEM license key. Worked just fine, and the operator at Microsoft activated it without any problems at all.

Who wants 10 stickers for 1 PC? (Since it doesn't say anything about multiple licenses) -

you only get 1 license per copy of XP, unless MS says otherwise (e.g. in the EULA), you can only install it on one PC (or such) -

You get one set of install media, and 10 Licenses (COA's). So in this case, the 10 license pack can be installed on 10 seperate PC's, as long as they all belong to the same consumer, and are used on their PC's. They basically don't want people to get 10 people together, and get the quantity discount...

How It Works:
Acquire the Get Genuine Kit from an authorized Microsoft® OEM distributor.
Affix, or instruct the end-user to affix, the enclosed certificate of authenticity (COA) label to the PC.
Microsoft recommends, but does not require, that on the end user's computer system you either:
Run the Windows Product Key Update Tool
Perform a re-install of Windows XP
Perform a clean install of Windows XP
Either you or the end customer must do one of these things in order to receive updates, upgrades, and support services.
The Get Genuine Kit is available from an authorized Microsoft OEM distributor in packs of 1 or 10.
1 license pack contains: 1 COA label, 1 media and 1 end user license agreement (EULA)
10 license pack contains: 10 COA labels,1 media and 1 EULA
10-packs must be used for a single customer and must not be divided among multiple customers.
Bits are similar to full packaged product bits in that they will not wipe clean the hard drive upon installation.
Microsoft provides product support for this Kit. This differs from OEM system builder software which the PC Manufacturer supports.
The license is NOT transferable to another PC.
