Almost a month earlier than expected, Yahoo will launch its new advertising management ‘Panama’ system on February 5, 2007. Main competitor? Google's AdSense pay-per-click programme. Yahoo's new system is expected to be very similar to Google’s system and should help the search provider increase its revenues. Panama will replace the advertising technology that Yahoo acquired from pay-per-click provider Overture in 2003. The acquisition originally increased Yahoo’s advertising revenue but lack of development and updates caused Yahoo to fall behind Google in the online advertising market.
