Apple has released an update for the iPhone. The iPhone v1.0.1 update doesn't add any new features, but does serve to plug up a few of the security holes that arose after the release of the device. iPhone users are encouraged to update as soon as possible to avoid possible security issues in the future.

Worthy of note, also, is the fact that users who have used software to hack their device must restore their iPhone before updating to the latest software version. As of right now, it appears that most hacks can be reapplied once the software update is successful

It was bound to happen.
If you follow the link you'll notice they are not only telling you what has changed, but they also give credits to those who notified them. Kudos to apple for that.

A few of the security holes? How much stuff has been left unpatched?

Now, imagine if Microsoft had just launched what's supposed to be a high-end, next-gen's next gen 'smart' phone and then updated it just a few weeks later, plugging some gaping security holes? It would be slated to death right now for not being ready in the first place and putting people at risk etc. Apple seems to just get away with what ever it likes and its users suck it up.

I have to admit that Apple users are far better and indeed savvier at updating their software/hardware at the instant it becomes available from Apple. If the wider user base of Microsoft users were just as keen to keep their products updated, there'd be far fewer viral/trojan incidents and the legions of zombie machines plaguing the Internet. Mind you, when you're talking about 100's and 100’s of millions of Microsoft users, it's a different ball game altogether getting them to act in sync.

I guess you've missed all the articles about apple and the iphone.

I guess aswell that MS have never had a 0day exploit on a new product, and that if it had all their users would have told them to go screw themselves and moved to something else see, MS users "suck it up" too.

If only it could update itself over wi-fi. Also funny that this patch does nothing to attempt to stop the iPhone h4x. LOL

looks like they fixed something else too. My wifi never worked right when I was inside my house. It always used edge even though I had wifi on. Now I can use wifi anywhere in my house! Matter of fact typing this from the toilet, hehe
