Intel is planning to launch a new desktop processor for its upcoming Skulltrail motherboard, a high-end enthusiast and gaming platform, according to sources at motherboard makers. The quad-core Core 2 Extreme QX9775 has frequency of 3.2GHz, supports 1600MHz FSB, and uses the server-based socket 771. Pricing will be US$1,499, according to the sources

Man, for that price Intel should be making a hefty profit off of each chip sold. That aside, it just shows that if needs be Intel can up clockspeeds to beat around AMD at any time.

Old news. See the previous article that mentioned Skulltrail: It gives the price of the QX9775 as well.
Only new news here is that the QX9775 will be LGA 771, not LGA 775 (which only makes sense, after all).
