XM, the leading provider of satellite radio in the United States (8.5+ million subscribers), has negotiated a deal with Hyundai. Genesis, Hyundai’s new, rear-wheel drive premium sports sedan, will be the first Hyundai brand vehicle to offer the XM NavTraffic real-time traffic service. The service delivers real-time traffic information on issues such as accidents and construction delays via satellite to the vehicle's GPS navigation system, allowing drivers to choose a new route that avoids the problem. XM NavTraffic, powered by NAVTEQ Traffic, is the leading real-time traffic service in the United States that offers coast-to-coast updates every minute. In addition to offering XM NavTraffic, XM Radio will be a standard feature on all Genesis trim levels.

"Nearly every new Hyundai sold today already comes equipped with XM Radio's 170 channels of music, news, sports and talk programming. Hyundai is now offering the additional convenience of XM NavTraffic, a real-time service that is certain to save Genesis drivers precious time and money," said Joe Verbrugge, senior vice president, automotive partnerships and international operations, for XM.

I don't understand... lexus and acura have had traffic by XM in their nav system for years. What's the difference here?

They update every few minutes.. perhaps Hyundai updates by the second?

The difference is probably $12,000, five years of warranty coverage, and that remarkable degree of social pariahism you can get just by driving a Korean-made sedan up to the valet counter.

That's their new slogan, you know.

Hyundai. Don't keep up with the Joneses. Make them stare at you as you park and worry you'll ding their doors.

I've never seen anyone so jealous of Hyundai owners. Save up and one day you can upgrade from your Ford Focus.
