Despite of hype, Nvidia Corp.’s Hybrid SLI technology that can reduce power consumption of high-end multi-GPU systems as well as improve 3D graphics performance on entry-level computers with integrated graphics core (IGP) has several serious drawbacks that are likely to prevent the current implementation from going into systems of serious gamers or professionals.

The HybridPower mode switches off discrete graphics core or cores and uses only integrated graphics engine when high performance is not needed, thus, cutting power. The GeForce Boost mode make integrated graphics processor (IGP) assist discrete graphics processing unit (GPU) and boost performance when it is required. In both cases computer monitor has to be plugged to video output of mainboard’s IGP.

Who is this actually for?
I have a 37" 1080p LCD, so if you're like me, or have a smaller monitor, then Hybrid-SLI "will" work for you. It just doesn't work for the ultra high end right now. Also, as far as businesses go, I don't see too many business workstations with nvidia chipsets in them anyway. So that's really a non-issue for the majority. I understand there are some business users who do have nvidia chipsets. But if most companies are like the ones I've worked for, upgrades are hard to get anyway. I actually look forward to using this technology in my next system if I can find a board soon enough (within the next month or 2).
And what, if you don't have a 30" monitor, you aren't a serious gamer? lol
Untill both ati and nvidia come together and work on an open standard for graphics cards to route to a "display box" hybrid or power saving will not happen.
ie. That say u have a mobo with an igp and a gfx card. the gfx has no video output connectors itself (same with igp)but are routed to a set of connectors be it display port, dvi, svideo, componet hdmi or vga. This way you could switch gfx chipset without having mulitple cables and also allowing upgrades to what display connectors you need.
