Japanese electronics maker Sony is planning to start buying liquid crystal display (LCD) panels from Sharp Corp to use in its TVs as early as April, a source close to the matter said today. Sony currently runs an LCD panel joint venture with Samsung Electronics, but procurement from Sharp is expected to help it secure enough panels to meet fast-growing LCD TV demand without heavy capital investments. For Sharp, another major LCD TV maker, expanding a pool of customers for its LCD panels is important as it is ramping up its panel production capacity aggressively. A Sony spokesman and a Sharp spokeswoman declined to comment.

I hate my Sony Bravia. I hate all large screen LCDs for movies. I should have bought a plasma.

i'm sorry, how did you turn this article into a blu-ray bash?

The same way threads about Ericcsons can quickly turn into a PS3 hatefest, threads about Firefox turn into Microsoft hatefests, and so on.

The anger's already there, it's just waiting for a trigger word.

*still waiting for an excuse to hate on mankind for giving Rachel Ray her own brand of olive oil*

I'm waiting for Sony's OLED TVs in about 5 years.

Sharp is a good and trustworthy brand non the less

I hate HDTVs and blu-ray, overpriced DRM/HDCP junk. $1500 for a TV? No thanks. $500 for a blu ray player? Uh, no. $25 for a movie? I don't think so. $10 more on top of the monthly cable charge for HD? Hell no. I can do with my 45" SDTV and DVD thanks.

This is terrible!!! I bought a Sharp Aquos and I returned it right away because it looked like crap! Worse than any other LCD I have ever seen, worse than Sanyo, Vizio, even RCA. People's skins look like they're painted on the screen, totally unreal. Colors are washed off, and even if you adjust all the picture controls to fit the room, it still looks like crap. I have a Sony LCD right now that looks excellent, but if they start buying their screens from Sharp, this will be the last Sony I buy.
