Last.fm claims to have become the fastest growing online music network in the US, with a unique listener increase of 92 per cent since launching four weeks ago. The social networking music site said that it has more than 21 million active users worldwide every month.

Martin Stiksel, co-founder of the site, said: "We have created a new model that works for everyone - listeners, artists and copyright holders - and the user response proves that it is working. "Free is the future, and this is signalled not only by the industry's growing acceptance of what we're doing, but more importantly by the incredibly fast increase of users accessing music on Last.fm since we launched free-on-demand."

Good for the site. I've been a member ever since the good old Audioscrobbler days. My, how they've evolved.

I'm approaching the 30,000 tracks scrobbled mark. It' a great place to meet new people from around the world, and be introduced to new artists.

Should I be scared that you listen to that much Kelly Clarkson?

So? Do you always judge people from what music they listen to?

Of course.

Why? What do you think you can judge people who do so?

Everyday. Deal with it.

I wasn't even judging anyone in what I said. They made a snide remark towards another because that person listens to Kelly Clarkson. All I was saying was "So?" and asked if they always judged people by what music they listen to. How did I judge them?

You should stop trolling around trying to start arguments with other members and twisiting their words around.

Judging people by the music they listen to is pretty pathetic in my honest opinion. That's all I have to say about that because I'm not going to waste my time arguing over the internet like others here love to do.

I absolutely adore how hypocritical you manage to be.

And yes, that's a judgment of your character. And no I don't care that I did it because everyone does it all the time, and I've come to peace with this fact.

"... have become the fastest growing online music network in the US, with a unique listener increase of 92 per cent since launching four weeks ago". First of all it's "percent" and secondly, the site didn't launch four weeks ago. They launched the option to stream some licensed tracks for free, four weeks ago.

Someone should seriously read what they copy and paste before publishing it on the front page.

If you fine smart folks would actually read the actual article you'd discover it's in reference to the launch of the free music streaming service.

Linking to a different article on false statement, isn't really a good reference.
And you got to love the subheadline on that site
Site claims 100 pet cent user increase

And people were worried when CBS bought Last.fm

Man I love Last.fm. One thing they need to fix is how you can't wait for a song to finish loading before listening to it!
#6 hotdog963al on 25 Feb 2008 - 20:02
i love last fm but the amount of "TRUU METULL" trolls ruins everything.
#7 +Ely on 25 Feb 2008 - 22:24

Not quite 2 years before me

I don't use Last.FM's streaming service (or even their client, just the plugins) but I still find it to be a very good and informative service (and a good way to learn about new bands). Long may it continue
