Update: The original source has uploaded a brief video showcasing the the alleged new Mac Mini.An image has appeared over on the MacRumors discussion boards of what appears to be the eagerly anticipated next generation Mac Mini.
Details are still scarce, but the source claims the new Mini will ship with a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of DDR3 memory and a SATA Super Drive. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the apparent inclusion of a FireWire port, which Apple controversially axed from the new unibody MacBook range in October.
Apple was expected to unveil a revised Mini back at MacWorld in January, but failed to deliver leaving many consumers bitterly disappointed. The new hardware, like the MacBook family, is expected to be powered by NVIDIA chipsets.
The Mac Mini was last updated in August 2007.

A higher frequency of Core2Duo, maybe. But no quad-core.
Still, 2.0Ghz is slow by today standard. It could be faster. But paired with the nVidia 9400, it will be much better than with the Intel chipset.
And again, 2Gb of memory, when everybody else is moving along to 3,4 and even 6Gb of RAM. Tight space...
Do you understand this machine is not for editing HD video right? Its more than enough for other functions. Hell, it can even use Photoshop very nicely and that is something that the average Mac Mini user is not going to do.
Get a shuttle xpc or something then.
We are at the point now where increasingly faster processors only affect very niche markets: science, graphics, video, gamers, etc.
What we really should be complaining about is the lack of a mid range tower, or even a cheaper Mac Pro. Since the PowerMac G3 in 1999 Apple almost always offered a PowerMac that cost $1499 - $1699, up until mid-2005. But even then, Apple offered PowerMacs that cost $1999. Mac Pros have never been cheaper than $2499, though, which is way out of reach for a lot of people. The only option for people who want to spend sub-$2000 on their computer is to buy an iMac, which means they're are forced to trade power and expandability for a built in display and small form factor. The iMacs are beautiful machines, but not a whole lot of bang for your buck.
I guess on the other hand, though, PowerBook / MacBook Pro prices have gotten a lot cheaper over the years...
Haha, that and no Mac will get a Quad-Core for the next few years. They keeps their building costs down by using old technology, and keep the prices up by convincing everyone that their technology is 'revolutionary'
When did you take a look at apple.com last time? In 1995? I won't bother arguing with you because you look insanely close-minded about Apple, but if you hate them so much, then I'll give you a trick :

I'll answer then, Mac pro's have 2 quad cores in dual socket configurations
I wouldn't see Apple (in 2009) making a design with edges rounded so much and with the little support it comes with and the stuff written in front of it. I think it's just something really really fancy but nothing I would call "eye appealing".
I'm assuming if they keep the original design it'll save manufacturing costs, and bring prices down.
Also I have a Gateway FX 7026, Intel Q9300 Core 2 Quad @2.5 x 4 Ghz, Geforce 8800 GT Overclocked graphics card, 4 Gigs of DDR2 PC6400 Ram, running triple boot (Suse Linux 11.1 64, Vista 64 and Win 7 64).
