What's the general consensus of Neowin on this? Is this just what Apple needs, or are we looking at a well presented hoax? Take the news with a grain of salt, as April Fools is but days away. If this is genuine, then expect to it see store shelves with a price tag of $899.

I'm not so sure; there have been numerous times this has happened, like with the iPhone 3G and new MacBooks, in which products have been leaked and Apple have done nothing. You could call it cheap PR, perhaps :p

There *is* such a thing as too simple. I suppose it wouldn't really surprise me though, since apple doesn't really seem to understand it.

Steve Jobs stated Gizmodo is his favorite gadgets info website. Apple could literally ship utter garbage and Gizmodo would call it the second coming of christ.
This is apple we are talking about.
Cheap and apple don't ever go together.
No, the point of this would be to allow Apple owners access to yet another product line in which they could shell out inordinate amounts of cash, so that they are afforded the opportunity to look down their noses at a whole new market.
Cheap and apple don't ever go together.
Yeah, expensive and disposable is more like it.
not an apple fan at all but i wouldn't mind having a mac 'netbook' and the purported price isn't too shabby.
Good question. I think we'll see stuff later on this year, what with all those products discovered in the 3.0 firmware and all.

While it's most likely fake, this would be something I'd definitely buy if it runs fast enough. I really could use a nice looking notebook that is both light and small, with a good keyboard and touchpad.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the desktop Atoms the only ones that support 64-bit software? Since Snow Leopard is going to be very much 64-bit I don't see Apple releasing a device that isn't.

Snow Leopard will still run on 32-bit machines.
If you can't convert lb to kg, then I suggest you take a remedial math class. A kg is 2.2 lbs, it's easy enough to figure out the conversion.
Not everyone uses that american retarded system. tough i suggest he types in google: lbs to kg and if he adds the amount in front of lbs he will get a anwer 2.
oh please apple!
Too big to be "mini".
