With today's release of Windows Live Movie Maker 14, Microsoft has also released a Quick Fix Engineering (QFE) patch for all Windows Live applications. At the time of writing, it is not known what is new or what has been fixed with this wave of QFE patches. These patches apply to the Windows Live 2009 (Wave 3) applications.

Microsoft has yet to make the official announcement regarding this second wave of QFE patches, but as soon as we hear something we'll let you know what has been updated/fixed. Special thanks to Microsoft MVP Jonathan Kay for alerting and providing the links to the downloads.

However this connector won't install if Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 is not already installed.
#1.2 prabir on 19 Aug 2009 - 15:54
using office 2010 as default office. don't have any installation of office 2003 or 2007. and using a fresh copy of win7 rtm, still works fine :-)

There will be, as soon as the update has been announced officially.

Give them a while, they are very slow.

On a side note, at least Mail looks exactly the same, not even JumpLists have been added. I see no reason why anyone should download this.

So just because it doesn't appear to provide new features, you don't think people should download it for the bug fixes and security updates? Okay...
#4.3 noroom on 19 Aug 2009 - 21:40
No. I see no reason.

You're taking it too literally.
#4.5 noroom on 20 Aug 2009 - 14:11
I know, I was just frustrated that they still hadn't added JumpLists to WLMail when I wrote that.
#5 +xiphi on 19 Aug 2009 - 06:51
Might as well wait for the official release at the rate these are downloading.

Just wait to there on Windows update.

I've never seen any Windows Live updates come via Microsoft Update yet, just the initial install on a clean system. Perhaps these will be the first.

Jumplists for Live Mail would be great :-)
#7.1 rm20010 on 19 Aug 2009 - 07:01
And on that note, they should get rid of Live Mail's tray icon if it's running in Windows 7. Either paint an icon overlay on the taskbar button or do a tray icon, but not both.
#7.2 singularity0821 on 19 Aug 2009 - 07:07
Yeah, that would be great!

Yeah, this annoys me a lot. They included the brilliant functionality of the overlay icon in the taskbar, but then left the icon in the system tray If they haven't got rid of it in the system tray, with this QFE update, I will be disappointed. JumpList support would also be nice.

When are these gonna show up in the single 100+MB package? I'd rather download that then do individually.
#8.1 jporter on 19 Aug 2009 - 07:11
Because... you want more MB to download?

It's the same thing man :-)

I hope they can fix that annoying bug that causes Windows Live Messenger's contact window to randomly restore itself if it was the last minimized application.

They should also place a "Close all conversations" link in the jumplist as there's no way to close all conversation windows in one shot, but keep WLM running.
#9.1 timmmay on 19 Aug 2009 - 07:11
I second that! It's very annoying
#9.2 juli@n on 19 Aug 2009 - 07:31
me two (tree)
#9.3 Billus on 19 Aug 2009 - 08:24
I thought that was just me lol. I was going wtf, did that just randomly pop up or did I leave it open...
#9.4 GreyWolfSC on 19 Aug 2009 - 13:11
That bug works both ways for me. Sometimes it restores itself inappropriately, and sometimes it doesn't come up when I click the icon and I have to double-click or use the jumplist to open the contact list.

Will updates available through Windows Update? I want the machine to do the update itself.
#10.1 Calum on 19 Aug 2009 - 10:31
It should be soon, yes
#11 belto on 19 Aug 2009 - 07:20
It will be available at WU in time. I would much rather a update for all at the same time.

I meant the official installer on download.live.com.. Its still giving the old one.. And something tells me wlxsuite is alittle different then wlsetup-web. Unless someone has used wlxsuite and it is the same thing..

Use the one from download.live.com, run it and it'll say existing applications you have need to be updated, it updated my Messenger to 726, Gallery to 709 and had the final build of Live Movie Maker.
#21.6 +statm1 on 19 Aug 2009 - 18:52

Hit the try again button, it downloads the full suite with build 726 @ 135MB.

wish they let me minimise wlm to tray icon in win7, i have to hate it on the taskbar which i don't have to do with XP.

wish they would let messenger have to 1 window on the taskbar in win7, i have to have a windows which says my status and has my chosen picture and another with messenger, was hoping those would be fixed with these new versions. Havent noticed any changes Its a shame win7 is rtm and those apps dont work properly on win7

run the messenger in windows vista compatibility

that should fix it
#22.2 +statm1 on 19 Aug 2009 - 18:12
Yes, I believe even MS has suggested that workaround to use vista compatibilty and it does make WLM work exactly how you want Torrentthief. Just right click on msnmsgr.exe inside wlm's folder in program files and click on properties and compatibily and just pick vista from the drop down.. either SP1 or SP2.. doesnt mater..
#22.3 Avi on 20 Aug 2009 - 04:36
I'm using the workaround too...

#23.1 dodialog on 20 Aug 2009 - 10:37
Yeah that was a surprise - first update I've seen, what a nice , quiet, unobtrusive AV MSE is. Almost forgot it was there. That's how I like an AV.
#24 aarste on 19 Aug 2009 - 23:41
Think I'll stick with Messenger 8.5 still, 9 looks awful.

Does this fix the Windows Live Mail issue, where it doesn't shut down properly and the process has to be killed manually in taskman before you can run it again, EVERY fcuking time?!?!?!?!
#25.1 Shiranui on 20 Aug 2009 - 01:07
Looks like it does!

Looking forward to the release of non-English versions.

My version of Outlook Connector, dated 3/27/2009, is 12.0.6423.1000. The version above is 12.0.6414.1000. And my version of the OWL add-in is 1.4 (June 2009).

I'm waiting for the 'official' update!
#34 paconio87 on 20 Aug 2009 - 19:31
Well actually this update has worked for me because it finallly fixed my "live messenger cannot sign in" problem.
I tried reinstalling msmxl3 but it didn't work until I updated the whole live package.
#35 Genc21 on 20 Aug 2009 - 20:16
This version of WLMail still has the buggy problems with the messages rules!! I thought they've fixed it.
Again, you have to create dhe rule before receiving the messages, otherwise it won't move emails to the specified folder.
#36 dagrimdialer619 on 24 Aug 2009 - 07:15
get to work on fixing the mac version! Ugh!.. I don't want to run Parallels just to use a fully featured version of messenger with scenes included...
