Facebook have once again updated their website design, this time making changes to the mobile browsing part of the website. The new layout better matches full desktop version of the website, but also improves browsing through friend's photos, updates, and even includes Facebook's "Like" feature for status updates and pictures.

The new updated design comes with better compatibility for mobiles devices for viewing friends and families pictures. Facebook have also changed their notification feed and indications for mobile browser users when they receive requests, updates and messages.

Facebook also has more plans to update the full version of the website in the coming weeks, including an updated content layout for the home page and some other minor tweaks.

Also expect to see Facebook and Xbox360 integration in the coming months for Xbox Live Gold members. Real time updates, notifications, chats and view pictures right from your Xbox360

I presume just the iPhone version was updated?

The normal http://m.facebook.com looks the same as always.

Does http://x.facebook.com look any different?

Only the Home, Profile, Friends and Inbox at the top loads with that link, but yes it appears to be different to the m.facebook.com link.

Which is the normal normal link to use? I didnt realise there were multiple mobile versions of Facebook.

Some people are redirected to the m.facebook.com and some are redirected to x.facebook.com, i guess it depends on your mobile device, but you can always bookmark the x.facebook.com to access it.

x.facebook.com seems to be optimized for the iPhone/touch

Ah I see, I just searched for mobile Facebook a long time ago and added it to my favourites. Never realised there was x.facebook and iphone.facebook

I like to over the old one but some times I need to access the main one and just swapping the "iphone." to "www." in the URL doesn't work any more and the footer link to switch back is also gone.

Does it actually tell you when you have notifications like the m.facebook.com site does?
#4.1 Kimleng on 09 Oct 2009 - 18:25
Yep, that little notes icon on the upper right corner (a new feature), actually displays the # of new notifications you have.

Looks better than the original mobile one

Tooooo bad you still can't comment on photos like m.facebook.com can Once that's been remedied, x.facebook.com will be a much more appealing alternative on my Palm Pre.

ya, it looks so much better.

It's popular. I would think over 60%+ of the neowin users have a facebook account.

This IS NOT Facebook Mobile, this is the iPhone version of Facebook. Get it right.

works fine on my htc touch hd
#9.2 Andrew Lyle on 09 Oct 2009 - 21:50
Yup. I said any mobile could use it, it's not iPhone / touch exclusive

I don't see why there is still an iphone.facebook.com when there's a much nicer, free application for it
This is a big loss of human hours ...
