Sea of Thieves is getting fire, a new Tall Tale, and more in the Seabound Soul update

Sea of Thieves' next major content update was unveiled during Microsoft's X019 Inside Xbox stream earlier today, and it brings firebombs, as well as a whole new story quest (Tall Tale) for players to tackle. See the reveal trailer above.

Titled The Seabound Soul, the update carries a lore-filled Tall Tale just like the ones added during the Anniversary update earlier in the year. This will have pirates joining the ghostly Captain Pendragon to uncover a mysterious ship named the Ashen Dragon that's spreading fear across the Sea of Thieves.

In addition to this, explosive ammo is being added to the game in the form of firebombs. Once loaded into cannons or simply thrown as a grenade of sorts, these fiery balls can be used to set ablaze opposing ships and unsuspecting pirates. This highly-requested feature was accidentally leaked by a developer some time ago, but it's nice to see it finally reaching the game officially.

The Seabound Soul free update is hitting Sea of Thieves next week on November 20. Don't forget Rare is offering Gears of War-themed ship cosmetics to everyone who logs into the game for a pirate session until November 22.

Also during X019, a separate Rare development team led by Louise O'Connor unveiled Everwild, a brand new IP that looks to be an open-world adventure game.
