Last night, Joe Belfiore, head of the Windows Phone division at Microsoft and promoter of the People Hub had some good news for all Windows Phone enthusiasts. He mentioned on Twitter a few bug fixes and updates that the operating system will receive. We've already covered the "other" memory bug which is getting fixed but Belfiore also mentioned Skype would be getting an upgrade that will finally integrate the popular VOIP client with your contacts from the People Hub.
Of course this isn't a new idea. Skype integration has been speculated and promised ever since the company was acquired by Microsoft but so far that vision has not been delivered. If anything, Microsoft's efforts with Skype have been horribly underwhelming when it comes to its own platforms, the app being very limited and lacking on both Windows Phone as well as Windows RT.
According to Belfiore, People Hub integration will be coming via an app update. It's interesting that the operating system doesn't need tinkering with considering there will be some pretty deep integration going on. Unfortunately, there's no timetable on this so there's no way to tell if the wait will be a few days or a few months. Unfortunately it's probably closer to the latter.
