The Miranda Instant Messenger project is happy to announce a new public release of Miranda IM.

Miranda IM is a multi protocol instant messenger client for Windows. Miranda IM is designed to be resource efficient and easy to use. It uses very little memory, requires no installation and can easily be carried around on a single floppy disc.

Miranda IM supports Windows NT4,95,98,Me,2000 & XP.

The powerful plugin system makes Miranda IM extremely flexible. Only the most basic features are built in, but there are currently more than 120 plugins available for download that allows users to extend the functionality in Miranda IM. Plugins can be installed to add support for ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, Tlen, netsend and other protocols. Other plugins can notify you when someone reads your ICQ status message, when someone has a birthday, when your friends comes online, or retrieve weather information, encrypt your secret messages and many, many other things.

The v0.2 release is the first public release in almost 11 months, this release was delayed 6 months due to changes in project management. The current development team is committed to bringing you a new release every 3 months.

We expect the chip to launch at a core clock of 400 MHz with DDR II speeds to match. It will incorporate DirectX 9.1 features, which is great if you're going to keep the card for at least two years, but don't expect to see any games written for it released for at least a year.

ATI will brand the chip the Radeon 9900 Pro, and the card will be equipped with 128 MB memory while supporting 256MB configurations for its partners. They will use 10 layer PCBs for the graphics cards. The 128MB variations will be priced around the ?400 mark. Lower bin parts will be sold through ATI's partners at a lower speed for less. A 350W power supply would be recommended if you are using a hyperthreading P4 system.

Miranda rocks! it's : - open source - plugin based - uses minimal system resources - you can use several protocols at once in one program (ie. ICQ and MSN) Miranda is basically ICQ without the bloat. i'm very happy i switched, and i'm not planning on returning to ICQ either.

Miranda IM is the best instant messaging client out there. I don't use it myself, unfortunately, simply because it doesn't do EVERYTHING I want how I want it done. Though I still will install and configure this

A great little piece of software, and the inspiration for my own multi-protocol client. Highly recommended.

Wow I like this Miranda IM a lot! It's very small, and runs fast. And the fact that it is very plugin based really rocks. I love the New Status Notify plugin. And I can finaly use Jabber and ICQ from one small app. Gret stuff!
