Except when I try, the x86 link results in a 404.

Best OS Microsoft has come up with so far. Will be keeping it listed in GRUB for a looong time.

Isn't this an RC though? SANS is reporting it as an RC

I don't think so. The release candidate was put out back in November, and this appears to be the final version. I'm going to wait until Microsoft updates its website before downloading it, though.

372mb for the x86-32bit version

32bit is 372mb, it is final, it would say its RC on the ms page for the 32bit if it was and installer didnt say RC when i ran it.

very nice release!

The x64 version has a digital signature but it seems that maybe MS forgot to digitally sign the 32-bit version. It's clearly not beta or RC and it's no big deal since it's straight from MS but just something I thought a little strange.

whats the deal with upgrading R2?
#16.1 Andy-Roo on 14 Mar 2007 - 00:09
What do you mean? It should work just fine. R2 is essentially SP1 with extra crap on top, so now you'll have SP2 with extra crap on top.

no, it's ONE update for all versions - the only variant is for different CPUs (x86, x64 or ia64).
