Says who?

If it was final, would it really give you this message the first time you run it?:

"The final release of Firefox 2.0.0.4 will take place shortly after we complete wide testing through this program. All press inquiries should be directed to press@mozilla.com."
#5.2 Night.Hawk on 01 Jun 2007 - 14:48

Ha! I get a 421 error: Too many connected users, try again later.
That's a first for me.

It is already late May 2007. June is two days away.

Sigh. Do I have to write this _every_ time Neowin jumps-the-gun with a firefox release announcement? Please don't link to ftp.mozilla.org - it is one machine. Please use releases.mozilla.org which will bounce users onto the load-balanced mirror network.
eg: ftp://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or...p%202.0.0.4.exe

I agree for once. Mozilla even said PLEASE LINK TO OUR MIRRORS. This just makes neowin look more and more poor quality.

Please don't needlessly use larger fonts. If you really feel this strongly about it, contact an admin or supervisor.

#11.1 jegar48 on 30 May 2007 - 17:02
Final version. FileHippo has it mirrored as does BetaNews.

Do optimized builts for SS2/G7 provide any performance benifits? I m using one from bigfoot, but it crashes sometimes like when going back in webpages or entering password in orkut. other then that it is fine so far, i did not noticed any performance increse in page renering speed.

Or M i missing something?

From: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox...0.4rc/whatsnew/

During the run up to Firefox 2, we released beta builds and release candidates for wide testing and feedback as part of a community beta program. Anyone who downloaded and installed these pre-release versions of Firefox became part of this beta program and was automatically updated to the Firefox 2 final release.

To ensure continued improvement in the quality of Firefox 2, we are now applying the same program to our security and stability release process for Firefox 2. Starting within the next 24 hours, everyone who participated in the beta process will be offered a pre-release version of the next security and stability update.

If you are participating in this program, thanks for your continued help. Please report any problems or issues at our community feedback web site at http://feedback.mozilla.org or through the mozilla.feedback.firefox.prerelease newsgroup.

The final release of Firefox 2.0.0.4 will take place shortly after we complete wide testing through this program. All press inquiries should be directed to press@mozilla.com.

To exclude yourself from the beta program, simply download and install the latest stable production release of Firefox from http://getfirefox.com.

In the near future, we will be accepting additional people into this community beta program. More information on how to join will be posted soon to http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/.

I am a release candidate tester for firefox. I received this by e-mail this morning around 0630 PDT:

As part of Mozilla Corporation’s ongoing stability and security
update process, Firefox 1.5.0.12 and Firefox 2.0.0.4 are now
available for Windows, Mac, and Linux for free download from http://getfirefox.com.

Due to the security fixes, we strongly recommend that all Firefox
users upgrade to these latest releases.

Note: We anticipate this to be the last release in the Firefox
1.5.0.x series. Mozilla typically maintains support for previous
releases for six months after a major release. Mozilla has previously
extended the planned end of life for the 1.5.0.x series in order to
accommodate some recent changes in update functionality. Firefox
1.5.0.12 is available for download from http://www.mozilla.com/
firefox/all-older.html but all users are encouraged to upgrade to
Firefox 2.

If you already have Firefox 1.5.0.x or Firefox 2.0.0.x, you will
receive an automated update notification within 24 to 48 hours. This
update can also be applied manually by selecting “Check for Updates…”
from the Help menu starting later today.

Not sure where you got the above, but this is not release candidate 4 or any of the 2.0.04 pre releases

I too have the java incompatible issue in Vista with latest Java 1.6 build 1.6.0_01-b06. On another computer, I have XP and get the same java error. Sites like metacafe.com has problems closing the tab while its playing and buffering at the same time. FF 2.0.0.3 did not have these problems.
